"Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix"--Phoenix

This french band knows how to rock. Call it hipster-rock, call it dance-rock, doesn't really matter. I call it good music. The album is full of upbeat tracks, that you can't help but want to move when you hear them. The album starts off with the track "Lisztomania". It's upbeat and full of energy. The guitars dance around the bass line like freaking fairies circling Peter Pan's head. It's cohesive and strong. The next track "1901" has the same kind of energy. You can tell hands down that these are the singles, but they have plenty of tunes on this record with single potential. "1901" is full of synths, and jangly guitar. The song was made for the dance floor. It's catchy in that "artistic pop" kind of way. It's accessible, yet artistically defined. Other notables are "Lasso" & "Rome". The album is full of emotion, and love without being sappy. In conclusion, it is a fantastic pop/rock album without compromising artistic integrity. American rockers could learn a thing from these guys.
