Hey Champ

your just a cold-dust girl. it's all you ever were, and I like that.

MillionYoung

MillionYoung is a one-man music genius. His sound is so fresh!! MillionYoung is grouped in the electo-pop/chillwave genre and kind of reminds me of Washed Out and Memory Tapes (which is very good company). He has a few EP's out there and that's about all I know about him. So peep some of his stuff here:

Jay Electronica

I feel inspired to create everytime I hear/watch Jay Electronica. I fall in love with the genre I was raised on. Hip-hop fool.

Starry Eyed

Ellie Goulding, “Starry Eyed (Penguin Prison Remix f. Theophilus London)

You know how you go to the club, dance your ass off, and get really sweaty? Well this is probably the song those sweat pores are opening up to. If it's not then it should be. #holleratchaboy

Dope Watch of the Day

I love the artwork! It is inspired by Britto's pop themed art. Grant it telling the time on this watch is a little more complicated than most (check out the link for details), it's still pretty cool. This is the SC122B1 Britto Limited Edition Split Screen and it is dope.

MGMT

MGMT has a new album titled Congratulations coming out April 13. This is the new album artwork. I'm not even going to comment on it. I'm just going to feel right now. I'm a big boy; I use my emotions.

L. L. Bean makes shoes?

L.L. Bean Waxed Canvas Hunting Shoe

I thought L.L. Bean was all monograms and backpacks. Guess not. These hunting boots are dope though. I don't know about hunting, but I would rage with the bros in these.

Lightspeed Champion

I heard about this cat awhile back. I just never listened to his material. Well thanks to the fader, I found out they were streaming his latest album Life is Sweet! Nice to Meet You online. According to Lightspeed Champion (Dev Hynes) this is "an unassumingly epic collection of 12 pop songs, two instrumental intermissions, and one piano étude. Lightspeed’s early leaning towards American country." So far so good. I'm halfway in, and it's a pop-pleasure overload. Check it out below. peace and hair-grease.

"I'm Beamin"

This may or may not be on Lupe's upcoming album entitled LASERS. Dope nonetheless.

Dope Watch of the Day

When I look at this watch, I feel like I'm in the year 2157. This watch is so futuristic looking! It is the Storm Circuit MK 2 - Mirror and it is super dope!

Theophilus London

"Humdrum Town"

Theophilus has been around for a few years but is starting to make waves due to a "charming" mixtape and his new single "Humdrum Town". He has a co-sign from Mark Ronson and is receiving rave reviews for his perfomances. He also remixed the hell out of Whitney Houston's "always love you". His sound is unique. I'd call it new wave/pop/hip-hop/soul. Check him out.

Rachel Comey Uncle Dan Oxford

These 'Uncle Dan' Oxford's are of a classic design. I had these when I was like 8. I was on my Easter fresh. They'll go with slacks or jeans. nice sun. #yay or #nay? I'll give it a #yay.

CyHi Da Prynce – The Prynce Of Jacks (Mixtape)

I heard this guy a while back, but I got reintroduced to him when Kanye posted him on his blog. This guy is mad crazy. Check out his mixtape:

Dope Watch of the Day

Today's dope watch is another NOOKA (there will probably be a lot of these because they are so cool). It is the Nooka SupremeBeing ZOT. SupremeBeing is a UK clothing line whose idea of, 'Created First Among Equals', encourages their customers to buy the clothes because they love them not because of the name brand. I would definitely buy this watch because I love it!!

PRINCE 1984 Rehearsal of "Doves Cry"

This may be one of the most amazing things I've ever seen on the internet. Stoopid fresh.

Dope Watch of the Day

I've decided that I really like dope-looking watches. So, I'm gonna start posting a new watch I think is dope-looking for mine and your enjoyment everyday! #yay Today is the DZ7148 Ana-Digi Multi-Color by Diesel

Matt & Kim

This duo makes me so happy! Matt & Kim's songs are so upbeat and fun. Their music is so something Phil and I would spazz too! Just another one of my indie pop bands to brighten up your day.

"Good Ol' Fashion Nightmare" (via spin)

Nneka

Nneka has been around for a few years, but her recent album, Concrete Jungle, is her first U.S. release. She is a Nigerian-German hip-hop/soul singer whose music reflects her life in Nigeria and world issues. She kind of reminds me of a Lauren Hill/Erykah Badu mix (which equals very good). It is a very emotionally-tied album that you should definitely check out.

New Band: Yuck

"Sunday"

Yuck is a new band. I don't know much about them but their sound is very '90s-ish. Fuzzy guitars and breezy vocals. They may have the worst band name in the history of band names but their sound is fresh. I like it sun. I like it.

Two Door Cinema Club

I really love this band! Two Door Cinema Club is an Irish, indie rock band with some electropop thrown in there. They kind of have a sound like Death Cab for Cutie but with more spazz and pop. They've only been on the scene since 2007 and their debut album, Tourist History, is set to drop on March 1, 2010. But here's some peepage until then:

John Mayer Apologizes for Playboy Interview

John Mayer is a respected musician in the black community and the world for that matter. The reason I stressed "black community" is because of his recent interview with Playboy Magazine. He used the "N-Word" in the interview, and apparently said he doesn't really date black women. I have no problem with him not dating black women. That is a preference. It's your choice and a matter of opinion who you date. I don't understand how that is offensive. I did have a problem with him using the "n-word". I understand the context in which he used it, and how he intellectualized it. The fact of the matter is though, all of that goes out of the window when anyone other than a black uses the word. The word is too emotionally charged for him to use, but I digress. In the video above he apologizes for his statements. I believe that he was sincere. He may have lost a few black female fans who had illusions of grandeur in regards to dating him, but he has not lost me. I am still a fan. People make mistakes, and his apology is enough for me.

Read excerpts from the interview here

Janelle Monae feat. Big Boi "Tightrope"

Futuristic R&B/pop artist Janelle Monae has a new album The ArchAndroid coming out May 18. This is the first official single entitled "Tightrope" feat. Big Boi. She signed to Outkast's Big Boi's record label. I first heard her on this and was blown away. She's been called the female Andre 3000. I'm looking forward to her debut, and for once the hype is well deserved.

J. Dilla + Big Pun = Big Dilla

Feb. 7 is my birthday, and It was also legendary hip-hop producer's J. Dilla's birthday. Feb. 7 marks the death of one of the most prolific emcee's to ever live Big Pun. Cookin' Soul and 2dopeboyz.com put together this mixtape with Big Pun going in over J. Dilla beats. I just want to state that Big Pun is a legend on B.I.G.'s level and Pac's. I don't care how much heat I take for that. Hell, in a battle I don't know who would win.

How to Make It in America

HBO dropped the pilot of How to MakeIt in America on youTube for the masses. The show is produced by Mark Wahlberg of Entourage fame. I was a huge fan of Entourage, and I enjoyed this pilot as well. Check it out. Oh, and the show also co-stars Kid Cudi. peace and hair-grease.

Gill Scott-Heron

Gil Scott-Heron is an American poet, musician, and author. He is the GODFATHER of rap before rap had a name. "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" is one of his best known works. He's influenced countless hip-hop artists and just artists in general. This is his first album in 13 years, and it is a piece of work.

dope fact: Kanye West has sampled Scott a few times. Here he samples Kanye West's flashing lights on the bookend pieces.

B.o.B in my opinion is one of the freshest, up and coming rappers out there today. If you haven't checked him out, you need to get on that now. If "Cool" had a sound, look, etc.

Let's have a chat about the word "cool". Think about it. You can kind of imagine if the word "cool" had a look what it would be. It would be JFK riding on his boat wearing wayfarers. It would be Keith Richards stoned out of his mind playing the licks of "Start me up". It would be Marvin Gaye singing the national anthem like he was literally on fire. What if "cool" had a sound though? Imagine if the word "cool" took human form and walked through your front door. This is the sound you would hear right before "cool" entered.

"We Livin Life Everyday Like Were In The Sun"

Wiz Khalifa--"This Plane"

Were living life everyday like were in the Sun. No hate will be found on this blog or within me. I just felt a rant coming on. I love when people compliment me and the ourplanes team on our music taste or fashion. I also love when they don't get what we do or how we live life and proceed to hate. When you hate I know it'sjust because your scared. You love what we do and how we do it. Your just too scared to take those Uggs off and walk barefooted on the sun with us drinking horchata in this bitch. You see the haters are actually undercover lovers. It's okay though, live through us. You already know we livin like we in the sun all day and night fool.

OH, and QUIT HATING ON LADY GAGA. PEOPLE ARE LIKE, "WHY DOES SHE DRESS SO WEIRD?" "WHY CANT SHE DRESS LAME LIKE US?" SHE'S A POP ICON. SHE'S NOT ABOUT TO DRESS LIKE YOUR 3RD GRADE TEACHER, YOU LAMES. OK, BYE.

fun.

I told Phil that this would be my first post, so here we go...
fun. would definitely have to be one of my new favorite bands. They are an Indie pop band that hail from New York City who released their first album, Aim and Ignite, back in August. They have been praised by the likes of Mark Hoppus and Hayley Williams and only stand to gain more as time goes on. If you like awesome, catchy Indie pop music, then check them out.

Lionel Richie "Running With The Night"

So I left my iPod hookup thingy in my Mother's car, and I was stuck with the radio on the way to class yesterday. Well I had one cd in my disc changer. It happened to be Lionel Richie's greatest hits. Random as hell. So I go through the hits everyone knows, "dancing on the ceiling", "hello", etc., and naturally I get tired of those. Then it hit me. I let this track play on. The synthesizers really struck a nerve. Shit started sounding epic. I'm thinking this is great. I played it like 1000 times yesterday. It felt like the first time I heard Hall & Oate's "Out of touch". Richie ain't playing.

Every now and then MTV plays music. I know I know, it's called MUSIC telivision. Here we have Vampire Weekend's MTV unplugged. Check it out and please Spazz for the good of the Spazz.

ok, bye.

One of Alabama's finest: Yelawolf

Alabama hasn't had many rappers to be proud of ( and I know because I'm from the state). Albeit one-sided, we have Rich Boy. Now we have Alabama native Yelawolf, and he reps for Alabama proudly (unlike Gucci Mane who hides he's from Alabama). He comes with the co-signs the other freshman have, but one of them really impressed me. He has a song with Raekwon the Chef himself on his mix-album "Trunk Muzik". Raekwon doesn't take his collaborations lightly. On the song with the chef, he talks about how black and white southern culture are united a lot of times through the music. Yelawolf said it best himself, "my sound is a mix between Lynard Skynard & Outkast." I agree Yelawolf.

Check out his mix-album "Trunk Muzik" here. via: 2dopeboyz.com

dope fact: He has two aliases, "Catfish Billy" and "Ricky Bobby"

Vampire Weekend's "Contra"

Vampire Weekend's sophomore album "Contra" is quite the record. It's full of raw emotion, and soul that was missing in the first album. They've done what so many artists fail to do. They've perfected their sound on the second album without recreating the first album. You can hear the album on their myspace page. Quite amazing it is, quite amazing.
