John Mayer Apologizes for Playboy Interview
John Mayer is a respected musician in the black community and the world for that matter. The reason I stressed "black community" is because of his recent interview with Playboy Magazine. He used the "N-Word" in the interview, and apparently said he doesn't really date black women. I have no problem with him not dating black women. That is a preference. It's your choice and a matter of opinion who you date. I don't understand how that is offensive. I did have a problem with him using the "n-word". I understand the context in which he used it, and how he intellectualized it. The fact of the matter is though, all of that goes out of the window when anyone other than a black uses the word. The word is too emotionally charged for him to use, but I digress. In the video above he apologizes for his statements. I believe that he was sincere. He may have lost a few black female fans who had illusions of grandeur in regards to dating him, but he has not lost me. I am still a fan. People make mistakes, and his apology is enough for me.
